Tsukuyomi
The god that rules the night in the far off heavenly realms,
He is the lord of the mirror, to have the art to see shadows
All the images that appear are caused by a hidden providence
Everything is the truth of nature, and it complies
Everything that needs to be done is done
As the tide ebbs and flows,
The life of all creation in nature is born and returns,
It is also the fate of all things
The god that rules the night in the far off heavenly realms,
For him, the lord of the mirror,
The world is minute as well as boundlessly vast,
Chaotic as well as orderly
Such beautifully, it is in shadows that lights exist
No need to worry, as anything complies
With the wisdom and reason of the Heavens,
Everything that needs to be done is done
Tsukuyomi is one of 3 gods said to be the most sacred and the last born of Izanagi with Amaterasu and Susanoo.
Despite being a well-known god, there are not many episodes about him. Tsukuyomi, generally considered the incarnation of the moon, has a name that means “reading the moon.” Thus, he is also said to be related to making calendars from the moon's phases, knowing the tides, and using the calendars in cultivation. Tsukuyomi is also said to balance the strong and contrasting gods Amaterasu and Susanoo and to help with various things behind the scenes as a shadowy presence.
Nature requires everything to change and take balance, and Japanese culture and mythology find order and beauty in the change. Tsukuyomi may be an embodiment of the Japanese sensibility to accept such transformation.
Blue, the symbolic color of TOSAIGA, with both depth and transparency, gives the piece a sense of tranquility and evokes the mysterious sensation of the sound of a flute from the moon resonating in the silence as if inviting us to embrace natural change.
